Sunday Songwriting, "Stand Up"
Since I’ve come back online, I’ve been in the practice of creating and letting go. As in, I record something I'm doing, I make something of it, and then I share it. I feel whatever I have to feel through after release, then onto the next. Saying farewells to my self-doubt. I’m really doing my best to not block this, so far so good.
Today, I sat down at the piano, something I haven’t done for many months now, so I was surprised. I proceeded to play a few melodies and sing to them. I pretty much always record my practices, and I pretty much never share my music! (beyond a select few individuals). So today was no different, just the sharing part seems to be.
I played a song I was writing and working on back later on last year, and improvised over it.
It’s not perfect, but if I tried to do it again it would be completely different, so in a sense, it is perfect for what it was, in that moment.
The song speaks for itself really, but as an extra note…
We are all aware we're living in unprecedented times, and it's challenging. But, there’s no stopping the new paradigm from coming through and triumphing over the outdated power systems. As the system breaks, it will exude more force to try and stay in control, so we just need to be aware that things might look worse before they get better. So we find our centre, each day, each moment, and we strengthen ourselves. We stand up for our rights, and we stand up for what is right.
I hope you might enjoy this song, "Stand Up".
Meanwhile, I’ll be working through the “ouchy-ness” of being out of my comfort zone in sharing, whilst also benefitting from just letting free out in the world!
